Li Zhenji, Founder of Vice Chairperson
and Secretary General 
 
 
Li Zhenji, born in Weifang, Shandong. Chief physician, researcher.


He studied in Beijing Medical College (Peking University Health Science Centre for now) from 1964 to 1970. Since then he has held the post of head of department, head of the teaching and research section, and vice-president in Dongzhimen Hospital, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. Later he had been vice-president of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, director of Science and Technology Division in State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and deputy director of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Now he is vice-chairman and secretary general of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, group leader of Chinese medicine theory expert group which was established according to Ministry of Science and Technology 973 Plan, and chairman of committee of TCM Standardization International Advisory Committee in State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
 
He has been occupied in hospital management, technological, educational, logistics and foreign affairs management since 1985 and taken part in the whole process of Chinese Medicine modernization development strategic research. The research was launched in 1995 and was carried on with the efforts from Ministry of Science and Technology. Besides, the research was the first attempt to make a systematic research and analysis on CM development. After that, a plan named “Chinese Medicine Modernization Technology Industry Action” was proposed and awarded the second prize of National Scientific and Technological Progress Award. As one of the initiators, advocates and motivators of CM standardization working, he made great contributions to the establishment and development of ISO/TC249. He has organized developing and releasing 11 World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies’ international organization standardizations which exerted international influence. He received Outstanding Contribution Award of China Standards Innovation and Contribution Award which is issued by General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China together with Standardization Administration of The People’s Republic of China.
 
He planed and organized several major TCM modernization subjects such as “The strategic research of Chinese medicine modernization technological development” organized by Ministry of Science and Technology, State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Development Research Center of the State Council. He also led the group which studies “The strategic research of Chinese medicine internalization development”. He was deputy director of the sixth edition CM colleges textbook Editorial Review Board, director of Expert Guidance Committee for New Century national college CM textbook, and subeditor of hospital management textbook. Moreover, he organized and led the first decade planning (1997-2007) of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. As one of the main founders of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, he also devoted to some projects such as “The strategic research of Chinese medicine modernization development” and “The strategic research of Chinese medicine international standardization development”.
